Chinese TV Brands Seize Global Market with High-end Cross-border TV Exports

2026-06-18
June 18, 2026

Global consumer electronics research firm Sigmaintell released the latest overseas shipment data, showing Chinese smart TV manufacturers including TCL, Skyworth and Hisense have further lifted their combined global market share to over 42% in the first five months of 2026, driven by booming cross-border TV export business.
Unlike the past low-price competition strategy, domestic TV makers now focus on high-end display technologies such as Mini LED, QLED and OLED, as well as built-in global streaming adaptation systems compatible with Netflix, YouTube TV and Google TV to meet localized overseas demand.
To cut logistics and tariff costs, leading brands have accelerated overseas localized production layout. TCL’s Vietnam manufacturing base alone ships 8 million smart TVs annually, 90% of which are exported to North America, Europe and Southeast Asia markets. Skyworth also signed a long-term global cooperation deal with Panasonic, taking charge of Panasonic TV’s cross-border sales, after-sales and R&D in US and European territories, marking deeper industrial integration in the cross-border TV sector.
Industry analysts pointed out that cross-border e-commerce channels including Amazon, Shopee and independent brand websites have become new growth engines. Small and medium-sized Chinese TV manufacturers can bypass traditional offline distributors and directly deliver affordable smart screens to end consumers worldwide, pushing the overall cross-border TV export volume up 11.7% year-on-year.
Challenges remain: US 337 patent investigations, regional tariff adjustments and rising raw material costs still bring uncertainties to cross-border TV shipments. Manufacturers are investing more in independent intellectual property rights and regional product customization to hedge trade risks in long-term global expansion.
